Time For Change
Public Safety / Crime
* More policing at our parks is needed. Police at the parks can interact with individuals there and deter illegal activities such as illicit drug use and vandalism. Police in these areas can identify suspicious and out of
the ordinary activities at the park.
* Adequate lighting at the bus stops is important for the safety and security of individuals there, particularly the ones considered to be more vulnerable.
* Police training for all our officers should be done to reduce excessive use of force. Police training is needed to assure that police respond to people of color lawfully, with respect, and equalized treatment.
Homelessness/ Affordable Housing
We need effective resources, services, and programs to help prevent and end homelessness. Adults in our community are living in shelters and on the streets because of rent control, unemployment, mental illness and the lack of needed resources and programs for those battling mental illness, and substance abuse and the lack of needed services and programs for those struggling with substance abuse.
Our youth are faced with homelessness because of systemic barriers, neglect, and abuse.
Equality For All
All citizens of our city no matter race, disability, sex, and sexual orientation deserve an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents. Nobody should be treated differently because of the way they were born, where they come from, and what they believe.
